82 gs1100 random backfire at low rpm

my 1100 backfires at random at lower rpms and all my plugs look good except #2 which is black coated-- I have done valves and checked all I could think of. The compression is good in all 4 cylinders-- any help or ideas will be appreciated,thanks,Tom

#2, second from left as you sit on bike?? if so, your petcock is the likely problem

You might also try enriching the idle mixture screws a bit, turn them 1/4 turn out and see if that helps. You'll find idle mixture adjustment procedures on my little website.
