Can I use carbs from a 821100 on my 80 750E?

    Can I use carbs from a 821100 on my 80 750E?

    Just curious. they sure to look similar, but I just want to check and make sure. Any advice would be helpful.

    You can probably use them but they are bigger than the stock carbs. You will probably have some jetting issues. The 750 has 32mm carbs where as the 1100 has 34mm carbs

      That might actually work out great because I need to do a stage three jet kit on the 750 carbs so I can likely find a nice in between jetting that would work well.

        Sure, you can do it, but be prepared for a jetting NIGHTMARE.

        Unless your bike is built with a big-bore kit and radical cams, it won't flow enough air to use the larger carbs effectively.

        It's kind of like sticking a big Holley four-barrel carb on a Focus, it's just not going to work well.

          The good news is that I found some new mixture screws, which are the sticking point as I can't get the old ones out! Any ideas on that subject? I even have an extractor set but the bit is too big for this hole otherwise I'd let it rip. I see that I have to be careful in this touchy area. I have to get these boogers out though. Any help or advice is appreciated.

            DON'T USE THE EXTRACTOR SET.

            Your best bet will be left-handed drill bits.
            They are not as hard to find as you think, they are available at most auto parts stores and Harbor freight.

              Cut the tunnel off leading to the screw with a dremel and cut a new notch in the screw. Spray with PJ1 and hit with some heat with a propane torch or similar. Make sure the slides are removed before using heat.
              1983 GS 1100E w/ 1230 kit, .340 lift Web Cams, Ape heavy duty valve springs, 83 1100 head with 1.5mm oversized SS intake valves, 1150 crank, Vance and Hines 1150 SuperHub, Star Racing high volume oil pump gears, 36mm carebs Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, Posplayr's SSPB, Progressive rear shocks and fork springs, Dyna 2000, Dynatek green coils and Vance & Hines 4-1 exhaust.
              1985 GS1150ES stock with 85 Red E bodywork.

                Actually, if you use one of the larger, reinforced cut-off wheels, you don't need to cut the tunnel off, just cut your slot down it, too.

                It will look like these two carbs when you are done:
