I'd tell you if you could but it looks like Photobucket is broken for me again... had this before where it works fine everywhere except Australia

Can you attach a pic? That way I'll see it for sure.

Yep that's pretty much it. Those boots slide onto the carb inlets and then they get clamped on to keep them in place.

I have heard there's difficulty with getting them on but I don't have any tips on that as I ditched mine in favour of some K&N pods.

If you're having difficulty getting them to slide over the carbs, then try some rubber grease, that helped me a lot getting my carbs into my carb boots on the head before I replaced them.

yea ill probly take the carbs off and and the air box out just to be able to have full range and figure the best way to do it... th kn filters what are they just reguler pod filters like 1 1/2 inch or so.. im deffenetly gonna jet my carbs at some point just wanna get it on the road this season.. was thinking about getting some and throwing them on just to see how it runs with the pods. i have a suspicion that somone who owned the bike before me might of jetted the carbs becuse the bike didnt come with an airbox and all the monts the screws go in for the box are cut off the fram.

The K&N's for these are oval rather than round, about an inch and a half by three inches at a guess.

Sounds like your PO definitely did some fiddling, but I wouldn't rely on them having re-jetted the carbs at all and I'd be checking what jets are in there before trying any pods.

Given how lean I was with the K&N's and my custom pipe, if I had stock needle setting and mains in I reckon there's a good chance I would've holed a piston by now... that's if it had've run decently enough to be rideable of course...

I'm actually thinking my next mains purchase will be a pair of 145's and a pair of 150's... and I'm seriously thinking of drilling the slide as well... but that's a whole other thing again...

I've heard of that happening but I haven't had to battle it myself.

I know it's possible for the boots to come out of the airbox, so maybe you could pull them out, clamp them on the carbs, and then feed them into the airbox?

Alright so they do go over do the carbs... that sonds like a good idea any idea where i can. Find out how to take them out i havnt the slightest idea on how to take the air box apart... also do you have to have specific clamps for them. I was just gonna use thne ones ud get at like a home depo that are just metal straps with a scre you tighten to make the circle smaller

They've probably hardened/shrunken with age like the intake boots on the head do.

Do some searching around for softening rubber with wintergreen oil as apparently there is a method for that.

Otherwise, you can put some rubber grease on the inside to help them onto the carbs.

Second last option is buying new ones.

Last option is ditching the air box...

Edit: Forgot to say any old hose clamp will do as long as it fits right and gets a good seal.
