When's the last time the carbs were cleaned? Best to start with squeaky-clean carbs & go from there. Unless you know for sure the carbs were cleaned properly, then that portion of the "30 yr maintenance plan" is where to start...

                  Hi,

Your bike needs proper maintenance. Go through the maintenance lists in your "mega-welcome" and address each task. Skipping steps or taking shortcuts will lead to frustration at best, severe death and injury at worse.

Chances are, it's not the jets that are clogged, it's the little passages in the bodies that are behind the jets.

The best way to fix that is to do a full "strip and dip" rebuild, probably a good time to install new o-rings, too.

Please listen to these guys; far too often previous owners (POs) are great story tellers and nothing more. Do the work the right way now or you will fight it all riding season

Be that as it may, the bike still will not run properly/safely until all of the proper maintenance has been done. I do all of the proper maintenance on my bike, it runs great, and I ride it all the time. I encourage you to do the same.

The #5 reply to your original post from hamphshirehog has a link to extensive instructions well worth following.
yes, you can just remove the floatbowls, but, the carbs have to come off,
the jet is accessible after float bowls are removed. the orifice in the low speed (pilot, idle) jet is incredibly tiny, one strand from a piece of wire might pass through the hole...the attached link here shows a cutaway and brief cleaning instructions of a similar carb http://dr350.wikia.com/wiki/CV_Carburetor_cleaning
