I'll be contacting him later today to see if he has one for mine. Next I'll have to find stock rings.

I just went to put the new petcock from George on my bike and I don't think it's correct. I have emailed him but I was wondering if anyone else has had these problems:
              • The fuel and vacuum fittings both face to the rear of the bike; my original vacuum line went forward and the fuel went in toward the center of the bike.
              • The filler tube looks like it may be too long.
              • The filler tube is exactly the same size as the hole in my tank; I will have to file my tank a little for it to fit.

              My bike is a 1983 GS450L.

Does it look like this one ? If not you have the wrong petcock.

New one looks like that. Old one does not.

Used the link you posted and searched for 82 - that looks like the one.

                  Crap.

So your bike is an 82 ? Or it has an 82 tank on it ? Just check with George I'm sure he would exchange it.

I'm not sure. I was told it's an 83, but there was some thing where 82 bikes were shipped and registered as 83 model years.

I've been googling "82 Suzuki gs450 petcock" and I still get the same listings as for 83.

In the parts fiche the 83 is listed as part #44300 45372 and the 82 as 44341 33150 and they look completely different. I'm not sure what you are googling ? Give George the part number for the one you've got and see if has one.

I heard back from George. Here's what he said.

"the correct one for your bike is identical to what you have in your hand except the strainer is a little shorter."

Which number did you give him ? If I understand you correctly 44341 33150 is the one you want ? The 82 { which looks like yours } looks nothing like the 83.

I didn't give him a number. I told him I may need the 82 part instead of the 83 and asked if there was a difference. It looks like the part number I need, for the assembly, is 44300-44250.

He is going to exchange it for another $20.

Oops. Sorry, I gave you the wrong number. Glad you've got it straightened out. Even with shipping the old one back you'll still probably get it faster than Boulevard.
