I'm Going In! Switching to K&N Dynojet Amidst a Full Teardown, Soak Rebuild...

    So here's my concerns...

Dynojet assumes the jet switching is done from a perfectly running, stock carburetor. Mine is totally taken apart so there's no idle adjustment, carb sync or fine tuning to have as a home base, so to speak. Am I asking to be tempted to throw my carburetors at the garage wall, or am I actually in a better position to be adding performance upgrades in the middle of rebuilding?

Anyone who has made this upgrade with any tidbits of advice that would prove useful?

    Thanks

    Nate

If you follow the carb rebuild tutorial, and install the kit, you will have minimal trouble. Fine tune the needle and pilot screws after the bike is up and running. Perform a vacuum sync too. Don't worry.

Put it all together...fired right up. Feeling pretty accomplished.

As far as fine tuning goes, what should I really be listening for? It really feels good actually. It'll try and hiccup rolling on it around 1800 or so, but not even consistently. Also, with K&N's, what's the story with air filter oil? Do I need it, if yes, how much?

        Thanks again, Nate

My experience was similar-upgrade was done at time of rebuild, and all I needed to do was the synch. As far as oiling the filters, just follow the instructions from k&n. Once you do it you shouldn't need to re-oil very often, unless you're an all weather, every day, dusty road rider.
