Idle Adjustment Knob
Bike was running slightly rich but idled great at 1.1k. I took the carbs off the bike, cleaned them up, and put them back on. I set the mixture screws to 1.5 turns out and planned on backing out if needed to everyone's favorite 2.5. The bike wouldn't idle so I started adjusting the idle adjustment knob and no change. I can turn it out multiple turns or all the way in and I notice the throttle value screw plates are not moving. Has anyone ever had a idle adjustment knob make no adjustment?Tags: None

Is the throttle cable installed and adjusted correctly? There should be a few mm of slack when you twist the throttle before the butterfly valves actually move. If there's not enough slack in the cable, it could be holding the valves open. Which would explain both why it won't idle and why the idle adjust knob appears to do nothing.

Turns out the knob was adjusting, I just thought it moved the valves more than it actually does. Also the mixture screws out 1.5 turns was too lean to even idle.
