    off-idle stumble

Hello everyone, need some advice. Still have the off-idle stumble on my 850. Have done all the necessary maintanence, dipped carbs, orings and intake orings,OEM jets, float level set at 23mm, airbox sealed,Uni filter new, valves adjusted, mixture screws at about 3 turns. Has Mac 4into2 exhaust. Carbs synced. What am I missing here?? Needles have plastic spacer removed and 2 washers installed. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks,Mark

Maybe try playing with the pilot screws. Try 2 turns, and 4. See if you can effect a change in the running condition. Another thing is to restore the needles back to stock. Not sure if these things will matter, but simple experiments to see what changes occur might help you focus on what effects the condition.

      What Ed said....

And I'll add that tuning should be done with the bike completely warmed up, as if it's been ridden for 50 miles.

I carried a small screwdriver for a couple days to adjust the mixture screws at quarter turn intervals until I was happy with the idle mixture and off idle response.

Thanks Ed and Larry D. I'll put the spacers back on the needles, and adjust the mixture screws to get a smooth idle. Then, I will leave the bolt out of the gas tank so I can adjust the screws as I go.

Well, I put the spacers back on the needles, fired it up, rode it around my neighborhood for about 10 min, set the mixture screws at 3 1/2 turns out, rode around again, NO STUMBLE!!! Yea!! Thanks for the help gents.
