Choke Lever Won't Stay Put
Pulled the carbs off my new 1100E, cleaned them, installed new gaskets, and o-rings, mixture screws and jets and put them back on the bike. The motor runs great, but the choke lever won't stay in position, it keeps moving itself back to the off position. To start, I have to hold the lever open and hold it in place while the motor warms up. If I let go of the choke lever, it immediately moves back to start position. My 1100G doesn't do this, that choke lever will stay in place and you have to manually move it back. Whats up with this choke?Tags: None

Sedelen, you're a genius and I feel like an idiot. It never dawned on me to check that mounting screw, I just assumed it was something in the carb enrichment system. I tightened that little screw and now the lever stays put. DUH! I should win the GSResources dumb ass stupid question of the year award! Thanks so much for your help.

Do NOT over tighten that screw...snaps easily.
Be sure you have both the metal washer next to the spring AND the nylon washer thats bewteen the metal washer and the choke lever. If they are all there, then try a slightly thicker metal washer.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.
