Hampshire..if the carbs are assembled and they work by moving the throttle linkage by hand , as he stated, then thats then only possible thing that could be wrong.

      Chuck, read the post correctly............

he states "W/O being connected to the carbs the throttle twists/rotates correctly. " which refers to the throttle tube,(not being connected to the carbs) not the throttle linkage itself

Lets wait and see if he switches the cables and it works.

He did only mention the grip Adrain..youre right. I took for granted that when he reassembled them he did a functioning check to detect any problems before installing on the bike.

My apologies for assuming what should be the obvious.

I've been playing dad & housekeeper all day. So I have not been able to get out to check on this. That said ...

I do not believe I installed the cables backwards/wrong. I checked which is supposed to pull & which is supposed to push. Although my dyslexia has reared its head now again when moving from point Z through A.

            BUT ...

I think it is best of me to take the carbs out & check throttle linkage to make sure something has not come loose or was messed with. I have a wonderful neighbor who lets me store my bike in her garage. She has grandsons who visit occasionally. So I cannot guarantee that they did not do something, as curious kids do.

You all have provided me with excellent ideas and areas where to look for a resolution at. AND as soon as my responsibility as dad & housekeeper are over today, I will fix the issue and post about it. (Waiting on the wife to return from visiting a cousin in the hospital a few hours away who has brain cancer.)

I apologize. I have not been able to get to the bike. Being a good husband and Dad has taken precedent over the bike the last couple of days. That said ...

I am texting the wife right now telling her I am going to be a derelict this evening & that I am taking a few hours to work on the bike.

Finally got out the the garage, after being put in a sheeeeet mode. So I am not sure whether I jerked to hard or whether they are just old, but the throttle cables need replacing. That said ... Something on the carbs throttle linkage is/are not moving properly. It was after the replacement of rings and cleaning, but now it ain't. Looks like I will have to tear down again and rebuild.

I am not in a good mood!

Take pics of the front, back and from both sides of the linkage so we can see what you are seeing..it will help greatly in the responses.

Gentlemen ... I would like to thank you all for you idea, suggestions & areas to look for my resolution. But it seems somewhere between my cleaning/rebuild, testing and me actually putting the carbs on; (it was a few weeks); it seems someone (I'm assume one of her grandsons) decided to put something inside the top of carb 2 & 3 to keep the slide from moving.

I found this out last night. Was too P-O'ed to work on it. Came back inside and had several adult beverage.

Tonight, I cleaned them again. Throttle is functioning amazingly well. No damage to the slides. I have not starting the bike because cut my finger on something and the blood was dripping everywhere. Heading back out now.

Here are the pictures, I took of the throttle assembly, if you still want to look & make comments or more suggestions. (I know the idol adjustment screw is missing. It is easier to remove it to remove the cables).

So when I go back to the garage, fuel had leaked all over the floor. Apparently the petcock I just bought is NOT up to snuff. Also, it's fuel spot broke off. Off to contact the ebay seller I bought it from to see what he is going to do to compensate me or he'll get receive negative feedback.

interesting resolution to this matter. why on earth would some one put a restrictor in the carbs? also, did you not notice it the first time you stripped them down.

post up a pic of what they used as restrictors..........

Sorry if I did not explain well...

Someone place screw/bolt in carbs 2 & 3 which didn't allow the slide to function properly and also didn't all the throttle to work properly.

NO. Nothing was in them when I rebuilt them. The screws/bolts were placed in between the rebuilt and install. I DID NOT DOUBLE CHECK. MY MISTAKE! Which will never happen again.
