Another favorite on the forum is Berryman's. Both of these come in a gallon-size can that has about 3 quarts of fluid. There is also a basket inside to allow you to lift the parts out.

Yep, that is no typo, he said "24 hours". I know the can says to "soak parts for 15 to 30 minutes", but those directions were probably written back when the chemicals were strong enough to do the job properly. With the combination of today's formual (which might be a bit weaker) and the fact that you have several years worth of crud to dissolve, the directions should read "soak parts for 15 to 30 hours".

Anyone know off the top what the diameter of the gas line is?

The stock line is 7mm. Part number is 09352-70103-00B and it costs $11.99 at G&S Suzuki. Don't be too put off by the price, you get about six feet of hose for that price.

Yes, "it will work", but any fuel hose you buy at an auto parts store is very thick-walled and reinforced to handle the pressures in a fuel injection system. They are hard to fit over the fittings on the tank and the carbs, as well as being relatively rigid. The stock fuel line is a single-walled tube that is very flexible, easy to work with and needs no clamps. By the way, the only other size you will find in the auto parts store that is anywhere near "close enough" is 5/16", but that is similarly non-flexible, thick and REQUIRES the use of clamps, as it is larger than the fittings.

Already emailed Mr. Barr for any help on the o-ring and Allen head screws specs as I haven't removed the carbs from the bike yet.
and don't know the screw size or intake O ring size.

Mr. Barr will not tell you what the sizes are, he will sell you the parts. VERY reasonably. The entire kit, with the carb o-rings, intake o-rings and the stainless screws is less than $25.

Where is the best place to pick up the carb intake boots for 1980 GS1000G? Too many sites and links on this great forum and associated sites.

One of the site favorites (mine, too) is G&S Suzuki, but that also depends on where you live. G&S makes sense if you are in the USA, maybe not so much if you are in the deepest part of the Congo.
Are you asking about the airbox boots or the intake boots? Or both? Be aware that the airbox boots (between the airbox and the carbs are somewhat reasonable, at about $12 or so each. The intake boots, though, are about $25 each, and they are a bit more important to have in VERY GOOD condition.

The difference is that the two marked RH go on the Right Hand side of the engine, the two marked LH go on the Left Hand side. Yeah, they look the same on a quick glance, but the angles are different and very important.

I live in New Jersey and F.Y.I Mr. Barr did give me the O-ring size of 40mm and 16mm on the Allen head screws.

And thanks on the heads up on the LH/RH info.

I started the rehab job last night and removed the air box and have lots of re-sealing to do in there as when i removed the air filter most of the seal stuck to it as alot more fell to the ground. I'm looking forward to getting the other parts ordered and getting this thing back up and running smooth.

OK, there are a couple of sizes that are not so 'proprietary' and might be necessary to ensure that you get the right ones, especially for the intake boots, just don't ask him for the sizes of all the little ones in the carb kits. He worked long and hard to get those sizes, find the right materials, then locate sources for the rings, and he is rather protective of his work.

That's perfectly fine with us. We don't care about the details, as long as he will still supply the kits.
