Will a 1985 GS550E exhaust fit on a 1980 GS550E?
Need a new exhaust for a 1980 GS550E I'm working on and I can get one for a 1985 GS550E, but I would like to know if it fits before I have it shipped out.Tags: None

I could dig my spare out and measure the pattern of the pipes. Its too dark to do it now but I doubt they fint.

Just header diameter where it fits into the head, the header flange bolt hole distance, and the distance across all four pipes would give me all the info I need.
Thanks!

No, you will also need the height of the exhaust port above the horizontal part of the pipes.
I think I remember seeing somewhere that the 4-valve 550s (like the '85) have a shorter block than the 2-valve engines, so the newer pipe might not fit.

Ah, I see what you mean. The distance from bend to bend, where it goes into the exhaust port and where it bends to go under the engine.

Pipes won't fit. Totally different cylinder spacing, not to mention fitments under the bike.Ed
To measure is to know.
