1979 GS850 Intake?

Hello,

I'm looking to put a more cafe look on my GS850 and it seems that when it comes to the intake single Pods seem to be the only answer out there.

I can't find definitively what size the pods need to be though.

So my questions are, for the 1979 GS850 (8 valve) what is the best intake modification? All answers are greatly appreciated!

Hi Mr. ender22,

It is always "best practice" to get your machine running properly in the stock configuration first. Then you have a known good baseline from which to modify.

There are numerous vendors who sell pod filters. You'll find and extensive list in your "mega-welcome". If you give z1enterprises.com a call they can fix you up with a nice set of K&N pod filters. You could also use the APE pod filters or the UNI pod filters. The cheap EMGO filters can be problematic. You will also need to modify the jetting to compensate for the increased air flow. A Dynojet stage 3 kit is the usual recommendation. Now let's move on to your "mega-welcome".

Wow thanks for the help BassCliff.

The shop i bought the bike from cleaned the floats and jets for me.

I ordered the o-rings and fasteners as recommended and will be ordering the synchronizers before i start the carb rejetting when I install the pods and exhaust. (and it looks like a new petcock)

EDIT: Valves and fork seals were also done. I plan on ordering new rear shocks. I'm just in the process of ordering new Rubber and figured I could save some time and order the pods from Bike Bandit as well
