    Left cylinder cold

I have a nice blue spark on the left side but the cylinder isn't firing. Pulling the plug shows unignited gas on the plug. I've swapped the plug wires to rule out an ignition issue. Now, I'm getting ready to yank the carbs to see if something is messed up in the left carb.

Why would that affect only one cylinder?

Try swapping the plugs before you do anything else.

Tip a thimbleful of fuel in the plug hole and fit the plug that has just come out of the running cylinder.

If you have a spark on the cylinder and you tip fuel in there it should at least fire up for a few seconds. Has it got compression on that cylinder?

I had to do a valve adjustment to fix mine when it had a cold cylinder. Though I believe mine had never been done until this year

It fired nicely for a few seconds and then idled back down. The cylinder has good compression. We've got the carbs off and it seems like the valve on the left hand carb is not floating freely (big brass colored cylinder - don't know the actual part name).

Stuck float needle. Try tapping on the carbs with a rubber mallet.
