    finally cleaned my 1980cv carbys,,, yuk!!!!

    hi guys well over the weekend i finally got around to stripping my 1980 cv carbys the jets were filthy,,, so i dropped them in 10 litre of 98% unleaded fuel and flushed them out i did this 2-3 times then i cleaned my jets after all this i cleaned the carby bodies and blue the bodies out ,,had a coffee then assembled them ,,,they are now on my bike again,, ,,today i,ll connect the fuel hoses up and mount the new vacume petcock and drop the tank on ,,its all good fun regards oldgrumpy

    As i have cleaned many carbs, gas doesn't clean old fuel very well, hope it works out for you.Rod

        Gas does not generally clean old varnished gas very well, you would have been better of with lacquer thinner or something. Hope it works for you.

          If you can't get hold of some Gumout or equivalent- use kerosene (in states we know it as K1 ), it's a better solvent than gasoline.
