Remember, carb cleaner is legit.
It took 5 minutes to do this to these plastic cups that were stacked together. Pretty cool.Tags: None

Haha, indeed.
I had a plastic solo cup half-filled with vinegar and other non-volatile fluids sitting on my bench. I was cleaning out one of my carbs and decided to use it to catch the cleaner as I sprayed the carb. After a couple minutes, I noticed a small trickle of fluid coming from the bottom. I knew what was wrong right away, but it was already too late. I went to pick up the cup and throw it into another container, but the whole bottom came off. Whoosh!
That was fun to clean up.Last edited by eil; 07-01-2013, 04:50 PM.

Styrofoam is not in any way close to represent HDPE or ABS plastics...so that rather misleading to post that. ABS is much more susceptable to contact damage than the HDPE is though. I your pretty quick about wiping off ABS its usually ok.Last edited by chuck hahn; 07-01-2013, 02:03 PM.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

I remember my first time doing a carb rebuild, i was soaking the jets in b12 chemtool. I had this old semi-clear plastic mug that i thought would be great to use and not get any good glassware dirty.
Dumped a handful of jets in there along with some b12 chemtool, i came back five minutes later and the jets had embedded themselves completely in the plastic at the bottom of the mug. I had to dig them out with a knife. Fun stuff.
Also, don't get that spray stuff on your hands. Might only feel 'just wet' initially, but a few seconds later you've got a great chemical burn.

That carb cleaner is rough stuff. Even my thick Nitrile gloves would warp and weaken after a bit. To to mention you need good ventilation.

I've sprayed it in my eyes twice. Shoulda seen me flopping around in my garage floor. Good thing is it evaporates in about 30 seconds and then you are fine. Remember safety glasses!

It gives me a screaming headache if I dont use it with a lot of ventilation. Also getting it on my hands gives me a headache too. I use the heavy blue Harbor Freight gloves, they last long enough to do what I need to do or I change them out if they get flimsy. Its some wicked stuff !

Shape of the rim, the way it looks frazzled..looks a lot like how Styrofoam dissolves.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

Seriously, though, this stuff seems to infuse itself into human skin, and your hands will smell of Berryman's for about a week if you're careless enough with it.and God said, "Let there be air compressors!"

With my eye burning like a mutha, and one hand trying to rub out the cleaner, i tried to blindly make my way to the sink the garage. on my way, i whacked my shin on the front spindle of my fathers riding lawnmower which was under repair. With my eyes still clamped shut, burning, i felt myself falling. I threw out my free hand. It hit the floor slid , and my shoulder dislocated (again), and i ended up like an upside down turtle..
