    GS450/ Mikuni BS34 needle jets?

Does anyone have a source for needle jets for the BS34 Mikunis that came on the early '80s GS450s? They're NLA from Suzuki. Searching for Mikuni parts from places like Mike's XS shows this needle jet for the BS34:

However, the needle jets in the carbs for my '81 450 look like this, which is a "Z-2" needle jet for BS38 Mikunis:

Does anyone know if they're the same jets?

Hey mate, be careful with the jets on Mike's XS... those Yammies run BS34's but are not necessarily the same as ours, although I believe some may be.

You definitely need to get the right needle jet as it is held in by the friction of the O ring only.

Go here and compare measurements and if something fits, that's the genuine Mikuni number:

Sudco also used to have a handy PDF on their site which may help as well.

Parts fiche says the size is Y-6 for our bikes.

    Good luck!

Thanks, Pete. I did see the Y-6 in the parts diagram, but no idea on the series. None of the ones pictured look correct. I'll make sure to take a look at the ones I have and post up any markings and measurements for future reference.

Have a look at jetsrus at this site towards the bottom of the page. Is this what you're looking for? 568-Y-6 003-666

        Good luck, Paul

Thanks, Paul. Jetsrus is one of the first places I tried but the 568 series is not correct.

For anyone interested in comparing jet sizes, the stock GS450 needle jet is 30.5mm long, 5mm OD (bowl side), 5.8mm OD (needle side) with a 19.75mm under the little shoulder that holds the bowl gasket.

Have you found a source yet?

You could always try calling Sudco or shooting them an email, they might be able to help...

I think I'm just going to run the ones I've got. They're just a bear to remove without damage and I wouldn't mind having some on hand for future carb cleaning/rebuilding. I'll try shooting Sudco an email.

Thanks for the link. I didn't see what I needed but the needle jet size chart is helpful.

                    Cool, good luck!

I was able to get mine out with some pliers, was just very gentle and patient.

If all else fails, dip them with the jets in, that should eat the O ring and let them come out a lot easier.
