Best available 1980 GS1000G fuel valve rebuild kit?

What's the best quality fuel valve rebuild kit currently available?

Mine isn't bad, but since it's off the tank I'd like to replace the guts if quality replacements are available.

Also, is there a NON-vacuum petcock which bolts in place other than Pingel?

Forum search function kept giving errors:

"Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 524288 bytes) in /home/thegsres/public_html/_forum/search.php on line 1155"

Some people report a successful fix using a rebuild kit, many report no luck at all. If you have a leaky diaphragm or bad o-ring, a rebuild kit can help. You may sometimes need to do a little work to strengthen a spring or two. I can't recommend one brand over another, though OEM parts won't be cheap knock-offs.

Why do you want a non-vacuum petcock? One with new soft parts should be good for another couple decades.

Yea, you might get lucky but I tried it on two of them and ended up 0 for 2. Went back and bought a new OEM one from Boulevard Suzuki and no problems since.

I'm thoroughly used to manual shutoffs and prefer total control along with one less vacuum line so if I find a non-vac unit around the same price as a kit I'd swap, The tank is being stripped (25 bucks including front fender at a radiator shop) at the moment and it would be no extra work.

Thanks for the spring tip, I'd not thought of that.

There are some non-vac petcocks on Ebay for less than a kit, but I'd need to match the ~44mm center-to-center distance on the mounting bolt holes. Some list that but others don't.
