'83 suzuki gs1100 carb on different years

    Hi guys,

I'm pretty new on this forum, so far it has been a great help. I was wondering if anyone knows whether the carbs on the '83 1100 e/d were used on any different years, and perhaps what those years were? I was just putting in my stage one kit when I found that the left side mixture adjustment screw was junk, I took the carburetor to a machine shop to get it out, but no luck, and now the carburetor is junk. I found a set of carbs from and '85 on ebay, and was wondering whether they would work on my '83. Thanks for any help you can give.

All the BS34 CV carbs used on the 1100s are basically the same just slightly different jetting and possably needles. The ones on my 80 GS1100 are parts of 3 different bikes thanks to some real craftsmanship by the prior owners. Each carb only works in 1 position so when you buy extra carbs make sure the ones you need haven't been buggered up

If the 85 carbs are from an 1150, they are different, as in larger

Not sure of your location, but I think, and will be corrected if wrong, that Canadian 1150s were still called 1100s.

Ok, lets get real picky and include the 82 GS1000S. I specifically said 1100s, 85s are not 1100s

Just trying to be helpful. Mr Baroque stated that he saw a set on ebay from an 85. As you said, 85s weren't 1100s so it may be an incorrect ebay listing......

82 gs1000s. Went right over my head.....The only reason I asked about 1150s badged as 1100s is because the cycle on the Clymer gs1150 manual cover is clearly an 1150 with GSX1100 decals.

If you had all 4 of the 36 mm 1150 carbs they would work ok. Whether they mix & match I don't know, Ive never had a set. If one would work I doubt the engine would even notice the difference. I didn't mean what I said the way it came out, my appologys

Its all good it took about 15 minuters to catch the 82 1000s refrence, at which point I chuckled...
