Remove dent from header – how?

Remove dent from header – how?

Pic shows the dent. Possibly affects function and I’m tempted just to leave it but since I got the exhaust system off, I’m wondering if this might be able to be fixed w/o screwing it up more.

1981 GS750L - Owned since 1990 when graduated high school and since have been discovering all the things not disclosed by seller.
1983 GS750E - bought in 2016 as a rough runner to use while rebuilding 81L and then to combine with ES to make one good one
1983 GS750ES - bought in Toronto in 2015 on a lark as a non-runner, missing front cowling and exhaust - If you have a 1983 750ES front cowling let me know! Blue would be nice

The header pipes are double wall. Look inside the pipe to see if the dent affected the inner wall. You could try to pop it out from the inside out as necessary, but doubt you will have much luck as the metal is quite thick.

You use a set of expanders.....if they will reach enough. And based on the bend part, they may not work at all. Straight spots are a slam dunk though.

I have also seen gunsmiths use sand packed into bent shotgun barrels to straighten them..believe it or not it actually does work. Packed really tight, heat and repack the sand when the metals hot to build internal pressure that forces the dent outward. Takes a long time and many many cycles to get it close.

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.
