I'm considering slicing the sides off and reversing them inside out and rewelding. Probably cut along the existing contour, so basically the equivalent of pounding in the tank sides. I feel like it may be less work in the long run to go this route since I'm a better welder than a pounder. Also feel there may be less body work to be done, hopefully just cleaning up the welds and a skim coat of filler. Thoughts?

Fuel Tank Mod
Looking for any advice/opinions on an idea I have to refab my '79 1000 tank.

Why do you want to do this to the tank -- is this to give it a different look, some sort of 'cafe' appearance with scalloped-in areas for your knees to sit?
