I am syncing my carbs using an analogue vac tool with four meters. I have the bike hooked up and everything is working and ready to be synced. I have a problem. The lock nut and screw for #2 carb is right under the throttle cable and there is no direct access above it. I looked at the tutorial but there is no mention of this interesting dilemma. Any body have any suggestions about how to access this number 2 lock nut and screw. Also how should I remove the mixture caps? 82 gs 850 L

You still have mixture caps?
That means that the carbs have not been cleaned and re-o-ringed?
OK, as long as you don't mind taking them apart later to do the job.
Now to answer your question: If you have a nutdriver with a LONG extension, you can twist the throttle about half-way, then stick the nutdriver down at an angle from the top, behind the carbs.
Makes it a bit tricky to lock it back in place, but you can get pretty close.

The way I outlined in post #2 works very well for bikes that are 750cc and larger. The 550 and 650 carbs are closer together, making access between them a bit more difficult, but possible, if you have some rather thin-walled sockets.
Some day I will get one of those Motion Pro tools.
