    Now that It's Running - Carb Sync

    Now that the bike started today (see my projects thread), when is the right time to do the carb sync? I already know I need to do it but should I wait until I get that first ride in or do it beforehand?

    Don't care how you break it in, but running it just to hear it run is counterproductive.

      Reading through it, I understand the point. I'll just have to use the warm up time to get my mind back in the game after having been off the bike for a year. If I'm understanding this correctly, I should probably stay in second and third gear while on the city streets and just rev it out for as long as possible?

        Read the whole thing
        It's not the RPM, it's the open and closed throttle.

        You probably can't do it on public highways safely, especially after not riding a year.. Got a race track around there?

        But no matter how you break it in, the running it ahead of time isn't good.

            Don't miss any paragraphs.

            Can you find an empty highway at say 4AM? Maybe third gear, maybe second. Open the throttle all the way for a while, then close it for a while.

            Open the throttle, close it, open it again. The road needs to be empty so you can go slow and fast and slow and fast again. Any traffic at all makes it impossible.

            BBWWWAAAaaAAaaUmmmmmmmmmBwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaUmmmmmmmmm mmmmmm

            Or just go out and ride it accelerating and decelerating as much as you can. Just don't start it up to listen to it.

                  The engine in my car was broken in with full throttle dyno runs. The builder, Jay Ivey said to install it and race it. http://www.iveyengines.com/ Its been very good so far. It doesn't even make the oil look dirty.
