so im begining my first carb tear down and clean. i wanted to post some pics but couldnt get any to load. my bike is a 1977 gs 750, the mag wheel model. i have a few questions , does the air screw not come out i turned it out till it stopped, dont want to force it. im taking everything off these things that will come off, am i on track with completly disassembling them or should i leave them partially in tact

Only things I wouldn't disassemble are the slides. Pull them out and leave the needles alone. Dip them complete. Everything else comes off.Ed

thanx for the help, i already took apart one of the slides, im doing them one at a time one at a time so ill have a reference for reassembling them, thanx this site is a real life saverComment

I'd recommend a carb dip. I recently took part my carbs for the first time since owning this bike. I completely took every possible thing apart, and replaced every oring (from cycleorings.com ). The carb dip I used was:
"Berryman Chem-Dip Carburetor and Parts Cleaner"
I got it from pepboys.Comment

I dont dip slides either, as Todd said. Some carb spray in 000 grade steel wool has them spiffy in seconds. Sometimes they are a little stained that wont come out but as long as they are clean you are all good.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)
