    Heat was one reason, airflow was another. Or to put it another way, keep hot engine heat from the carb intake since cooler air is denser.
    It also provided a calm area for the carbs to draw air from.

        I would love to get my hands on one of your gs1100 exhausts. The ones on ebay were perfect, but i didnt have the money then, I DO now. Please.......

                    I posted this one time but never got a response. What are the characters on the exhaust mean?
