Fuel economy
Back in 1982, my brother and I purchased brand new BMW R100's, we picked them up in Munich and rode to Africa and back on them.
The only modifications made was to replace the stock fuel tanks, 34 litre for mine and my brother went for a 36 litre tank.
When we refueled I noticed I always got better mileage by quite a bit, as much as 3-4 litres per fill up. Mine worked out at about 4.5 litres per 100KM and his was about 5.2L/100KM
Never did figure out why the difference, we had them serviced by BMW in Munich for our first service before we left, I checked everything I could think of while on the road and had them serviced by BMW in Nairobi and still the same results.
Strange that 2 "identical" bikes would be so different
I can't remember if we switched bikes to see if it was riding style, but that may have contributed to some of it.
Any-who, take care of the service work suggested and enjoy the ride, sometimes that's the way it is.2018 Honda Africa Twin AS
