    Exhaust Situation, GS1100GK

Hello, my account had been deleted. Fair enough I suppose, I haven't played with my GS in a while.

A few years back I replaced the exhaust on my 1982 Suzuki GS1100GK with a Vance and Hines exhaust system, then Parts Unlimited part number V12001G IIRC. The OE exhaust was still functional but I was switching employers and it was a good oppurtunity to buy new at dealer cost.

Long story short: After searching the forum here I feel I must be the only person who hates this V&H exhaust system. If it were only the muffler canister dragging it would be one thing, but I'm dragging the collector pretty bad as well. Given, the stock muffler system did drag, but I had much greater cornering clearance to the right, and a predictable touch to the left.

Reading the forums I'm forced to believe this situation must be unique to me, possibly a header built a little out of their normal spec or something. It appears the collector could rest much closer to the oil pan, likely opening up a lot more clearance. I'll likely take a torch and try bending it slightly soon, but I thought I'd check recommendations on here first.

I've tried reinstalling the OE system but apparently I've misplaced both sets of rings that hold the inner two headers to the clamping surface that mounts to the head, and one of the aforementioned "clamping surfaces" (Suzuki #14182-49011, I suppose I'll check availability tomorrow morning.).

This is a drag pipe, because it drags. For street riding you need the one made to go around corners both ways.

I have had a few of them on different bikes, they were much harder to scrape than the stock ones.

Sounds about right, it's been so long I can't remember what I'd ordered.

Sell them to someone from Kansas or somewhere flat, they will be fine with no cornering.

Put "Drag Bike" in the title, they'll be all over it.

LOL that got a pretty good chuckle out of me, seems everyone wants to "Drag". It'll be back to stock for now.
