Also my Vance & Hines didn't have any slots in the exhaust for the clamp to be able to cinch it down to the headers. I slotted it, but is that normal V&H setup, or did I get one that slipped past quality control?

Vance & Hines Mounting
I removed my Kerker since it was pretty beat up, the baffle was seized in place, and no insulation in there. In the photo below is the mounting location of the Kerker (the hole on the left). When I slide on the new Vance & Hines, that hole on the left seems to be too far away to get a good seat between the headers and exhaust. The hole to the right makes more sense as I can slide the exhaust over the headers a little further, but makes the exhaust mounting tab sit out 1/2" from the bolt hole. Is the black metal tab in the photo part of the stock setup, or was it installed for the Kerker?

That's a custom tab setup for sure. Not exactly sure what you mean by slots, I'm guessing you meant slots in the muffler where it connects to the header. I don't have any V&H pipes so I can't comment. It should be fairly simple to find a round or square spacer to make up the 1/2" gap between the V&H and the mounting hole on the frame.Rob

It's the right system for my model and year. I was mostly curious about the metal tab mentioned earlier. Thought it may have been for the Kerker. I'll make a spacer if I need one.
You are correct by the slots I was mentioning. There were no slots in the end of the midpipe to allow the midpipe to be tightened over the header pipe. It was a just a piece of tubing. You could put a t bolt clamp on that and tighten it all day and it wouldn't move.

slip fit only...no slots.
