I was under the impression that it was some time on Thursday.

You were also wanting to avoid Chicago "rush" hour, so would be leaving before "o-dark-hundred" and getting here early afternoon.

At that rate, you might be able to leave on Saturday.

Wow, those looks very nice. You're getting me inspired for the carb job I have coming up.

Don't those hoses look a little tired though?

Don't worry, Dale. By the time he leaves my place, the carbs won't look like that any more, and it will have at least a new piece of fuel hose.

It will run better soooner or later ...

                            .
                            ...What...

                            Not shiny enough...?
Function over form is my creed - New hose would be nice , but I used what I had ...vent hose is no big deal...fuel line seemed OKAY ..and the vacuum line is a size I had none of ...

I CAN promise you this...the internals are clean. the floats are set properly, and the O-rings are all new (I just hope it doesn't leak and make a liar outta me)

What I DID find during this process gives me some comfort in the knowing WHY the bike started so hard and ran poorly . The airbox hoses we see are a mess, and they were all loose as were some of the fasteners on the carb rack itself. The floats were all set wrong (but the same - so I think the person did not know the proper way to measure float heights) and the idle mixture adjustments screws were all over the place - trying to compensate for air leaks would be my bet.

                            Now -
                            All floats set properly
All idle mixture screws set at 2-1/2 turns out awaiting first start up and tuning
All carbs are bench synched and operate properly.
Idle speed adjustment screw is set at previous setting from before cleaning.
Vacuum slides are cleaned as are all jets - a process including manual poking of wire through the holes (although the internals were pretty good)

The various oil leaks are what caused the carbs and bike to look tired and used hard. Those will be cleaned up during the weekend I am at Steve's for garage weekend -

The speedo and tach need some lovin' as one of them was squealing pretty bad during a test ride I (speedo I think) . But lubing the cables and the head units should help that I hope.

I have a luggage rack waiting to added, engine case guards, a different windscreen, and hard saddlebags going on. My idea is to make it a cool unique retro bagger for commuting.
