    carb removal

1984 850 taking off carbs how do they come off I feel like I'm missing something obvious.

They can be a pain to get off. I have an 85 750 and I started by unbolting the airbox from the frame, then loosening the clamps from the airbox to the carbs. Slide it back as far as it will go, then remove the throttle cable from the carbs, the fuel lines, then loosen the clamps between the carbs and head.
With a slight pulling motion, wiggle the carbs up and down, and they should come off of the head. I had to get in there with a flathead screwdriver and CAREFULLY pry the carbs back so as not to damage the boots.
Once they come out, slide them out either side. Took me about 20 minutes to get mine out.

The 850 is easy if it's like the earlier ones. Slide the airbox out to the right side, then you have all the room in the world to remove the carbs, super simple.

          got em

I didn't want to yank on them so I was worried I missed a mount or something. Just stuck in the boots is all. But thank you guys for the quick replys.
