Intermittent Overflow From 79 GS1000 Slide Carb
Took the bike for ride this afternoon on returning back noticed some petrol on the swinging arm (oveflow pipes stretch down to in front of swinging arm). Decided to remove the overflow pipes off the underneath of the carbs. Started the engine and watched the overflows noticed that No1 carb intermittently say every 30 to 40 seconds so and a for a short spell ejects petrol. Has anyone any idea what this could be.Tags: None

take the needle valve out and clean it, may be a tiny bit of dirt in there holding it open. replace if it looks dodgy! also check the float height, lower it by 1/2 - 1mm if it is on the high side of spec.(lower the height by increasing the float measurement!)Last edited by Agemax; 03-10-2014, 03:26 PM.1978 GS1085.
Just remember, an opinion without 3.14 is just an onion!

Will check it out tomorrow Adrian, had new needle valves last year. Odd that it does not overflow all the time, just every so often for a small amount.
