    Custom throttle cables.

    Anyone have experience making them?

I need to get a longer cable to fit the new "apehanger" raised clip-ons I'm putting on. I checked with my local Yamaha dealer and they can get a kit ( 68" cable and sheath plus two barrels) for around $8.

What I was wondering about was how do you attach the barrels? I know you can get brass ones with a set screw to clamp the wire but what about the lead (alloy?) ones. Is there a special crimper needed?

An inquiring mind needs to know.

    Cheers guys

I've used Motion Pro with great success... granted they're more than $8 but they make them to suit.
Motion Pro - High quality cables, tools and controls for motorcycles, ATVs, snowmobiles and personal watercraft.

Last year they made me some cables for a race bike using a MX push/pull throttle assembly to mate up to a "Harley" Mikuni HS40 carb. fit and operates perfectly.

        Custom Cables

I had great luck with Motion Pro. They only made 80 KZ440 one year with the drum brake on the front. When I got the bike brake cable was beyond rusted frozen and I could not find a replacement anywhere. Motion Pro didn't have a template so I sent them the rusted cable and they made the new one that matched. Both ends, cable, protective end cover, all look like original.
