got a set of carbs, came with the bike (gsx1100et) been great for 13 years no problems, stripped them down and ultrasonic cleaned them so they now look nice fitted new o ring seals etc but bike refused to start,no fuel on plug checked float bowls no fuel, filled carbs up manually but bike still refused to start or even try.

yes cleaned everything thoroughly, float heights bang on all jets clean as a whistle all orifices clean and for good measure sprayed through with carb cleaner followed by compressed air. cannot work out why fuel will not flow through any carb?

you say the petcock vacuum set up is ok, are you 100% sure you have it connected upto your carbs correctly? if another set works fine, but you are getting no fuel into the bowls in the set you have rebuilt, something must be wrong or different which controls the fuel supply.1978 GS1085.

connected both sets of carbs up exactly the same with the same pipes/same tank/same tap/same petrol cap so no ideas why fuel flows with one set of carbs but not with the other, could understand 1 carb playing up but not all 4?

Well, of fuel flows to one set of carbs, you can eliminate the fuel tap
New fuel line from tap to carbs?
Did you clean out the fuel connectors between the carbs?1978 GS 1000 (since new)

fuel connectors clear, when filled manually all floats were full and float valves shut off at the correct heights but no fuel gets dragged through to the cylinders either by choke or even if spraying fuel in from back of carb hoping it would drag fuel through that way and start, compression is fine (if not why would borrowed carbs work fine).
