    Exhaust from 78 GS1000 fit 81 GS850?

    Would anyone know?

    Thanks.

Stock exhaust, I don't know, I don't see why not, 4 into 1 should fit just fine, may hang a little low though, as the header pipes may be a half inch longer, at the end of the day it also depends on the make, I guess.
I have fitted an 850 exhaust to my 1000G because the slightly shorter header pipes tuck it in nice and tight under the bike, this was a 4 into 1.

We tried to put a stock 750 exhaust on a 1000 engine today.

The pipe diameter and spacing was the same, the pipe fit into the ports in the head just fine. The exhaust bolt holes in the 1000 head were a little too far apart for the 750's exhaust collars, maybe 4mm or so. The 850 should be the same as the 750 in that regard.

With an aftermarket pipe it would probably work, but not with the collars of the stock exhaust.

Might have to make up some collars, or maybe use the ones from the 850.

Hey gold, the 4-1 exhaust on the bike is from a 1100gs , so should work..... or at least you probably could make it. lol

If a header has 4 loose pipes it should be OK. Marshall is like that.
