    Replacement Jets

I just purchased an 85 GS550L and am working through the "Welcome" checklist, starting with my carb. Upon disassembly I found that all 4 pilot jets were stripped. I plan on drilling them out and removing with an ez-out or torx. Question is, should I replace them with stock or get a jet kit and switch to pod air filters? I need an air filter regardless. Is this a purely aesthetic decision?

    Thanks,

    Ryan

Also, please forgive me as I am new to working on engines, but what is the proper term for the brass piece that the needle valve fits in? They don't seem to want to move and both show signs of manipulation with needle nose pliers...

    Thanks,

    Ryan
