I found this thread
and this from Eil: "So to answer your question, the Rober Barr o-rings will work just fine. They squish down to fill in the cutaway in the drain bowl. You have to be careful not to over-tighten them, though, because if you do you'll mangle the o-ring and cause a leak. (Ask me how I know. :P)
I've often thought a thick rubber gasket would be a better fit for these drain bowl screws, but chances are something like that would cost a lot more than bog-standard o-rings.

Just take the bowl and screw to local hardware store plumbing section and rummage thru the buna o-rings to get a nice fit. Carb bowls don't get that hot so buna is fine and has added bonus of swelling a bit when gas hits it.1981 gs650L

The o-rings in the D envelope will work just fine.
The notches in the old o-rings are there because some Bozo cranked down on the screw a bit too hard, then left them there for too many years.

Find an exploded diagram of your carbs. Odds are, the diagram will show a washer that is used as a gasket. It's a hard fiber washer. That, or a substitute, is what you're looking for. There's a similar thread on this topic with a few good substitute suggestions.and God said, "Let there be air compressors!"
