    Petcock without lever

Anyone familiar with a petcock that does not have a lever. It's on my 1980 GS850GL, and all it has is a recessed white slotted screw head that appears to be made out of nylon. It rotates 360 degrees, and has no reference point but the slot for the screwdriver. The petcock body has the work "fuel" with an arrow pointing down to the recessed screw, and at about the 11 o'clock position on the body there is the word "pri". No other words otherwise. The petcock seems to match online exploded view drawings, but they are not perfectly clear and I'm not sure about that.

    Thanks,
    Dan

Those suck. They have a valve that sticks inside, and sometimes they won't work. I can't remember which way is prime, and which way is on.

With the screw slot straight up and pointing to the point on top next to the word PRIME, that is PRIME. Screw slot parallel to the ground is RUN.

They are a pain in the drain. The problem is that there are no stops. When you turn it to horizontal for RUN, you literally have to remove the fuel line and tweak the imprecise nylon slot until fuel ceases to flow. Once it is in the proper position they work like a charm but you will never know unless you check with the fuel line off. It kind of defeats the purpose.
