From what I've read the dreaded petcock doesnt have a valve to turn, the fuel is commanded by vaccuum. Mine has a valven assuming its not the "dreaded" 1980 valve. Ill just tear it apart and try to get working. The bolt spacing seems to be the same as the one on my 78 tank.Originally posted by Dave8338 View PostWell, there is your answer.

Post pics of the device...and if you want a new petcock that will fit on a 78 tank measure the center to center on the bolt holes..should be 40MM. If it is, then the 77 and 78 750 petcocks are the exact same thing as stock except the fuel and vac nipples face different direction...but it will bolt right up.
