    I believe the solution is to purchase not only the needles but also the seats that correspond with them. That's the direction I'm going to go in.

      That would be best, no doubt. I've heard of people giving them a gentle tap with a hammer while in the seat to line them up better but I'd be a little afraid of ruining the spring or seating them to the point of a groove...
