    81 GS550L Fuel / Air Screw location

Does my bike have 2 sets of screws? I know about the adjustment screw on the top of the carbs, is this the air or fuel? I have read about another set of screws but not specific to my model. Wondering.

You have Mikuni BS32SS CV carbs. Only one screw that's located under the plug at the top, engine side, of the carbs. Pre 1980 VM carbs had two screws.

The screw technically adjusts both air and fuel but is really considered a fuel enrichment screw. Out increases fuel.

Darn, with so many daily riders it's hard to decide which one to jump on next.;)

CV carbs (like yours) only have the mixture screw (on the top of the carbs). This screw adjusts the idle mixture circuit - turning it out (counter-clockwise) increases the fuel & richens it up, turning it in (clockwise) leans it out...

Earlier carbs (pre-1980 I believe) used the VM carbs - those have more adjustment screws...
