1988 GS450 carb rebuild
This is going to be my first carb rebuild. Anyone have any tutorials and/or guides that will help me like this? Or just some helpful pointers!Tags: None

COMPLETE tear down. New o-rings from Robert Barr (cycleorings.com). Dip them in Berryman ChemDip for 24 hours or run them in a sonic cleaner (ran each carb for 2 hours in 50/50 vinegar/water solution personally). New carb to air box boots if they are getting hard. Make sure the air box is sealed tight. New Air Filter. All I can think of off the top of my head.
Edit: Check the intake boots for dry rotting, cracks, tears etc. Bench sync the carbs then do a vacuum sync once the bike is back up and running. Drill out the fuel screw cap and reset the fuel mix to 2.5 turns out.Last edited by Guest; 05-31-2014, 09:58 PM.

I am having an issue where when I Rev. The Bike the bike takes a long time to get back to idle. Almost like it's still dumping fuel even after I let off gas. I checked throttle cable and it isn't getting stuck. Anyone have any info on this? Also I noticed on my tank where the fuel garage connects to there is a brass barb. Does anything connect to that or is that there for just fuel garage.

Hanging idle usually indicates air leaks. Intake boots, boots from carbs to airbox, airbox itself.
