I have the same problem where I'm leaking gas from my 1979 GS750Ls sending unit. The gas is coming out from the center plastic piece where the wires comes out.

Although they are easy to rehab, I had the same curiosity as h1ghw4ym4n5 a while back because I have one completely missing.
When you google images of other Suzuki fuel sending units, you see a lot of other bikes that appear to have the same bolt pattern as the gs1000... but it is hard to say from a picture.
Bending the arm or shortening it doesn't look like a biggie to me if you can get the right bolt pattern.82 gs1100e FAUX Skunk

Hello All
I've recently acquired an 82 GS750E. Purchased as a non running bike. Got it to run the same afternoon after a wash, a charge and some spray starter. Carbs are this weekend. I've come to find the tank a mess. The bike came with a hole in the part of the tank due to a much too long screw. That's another issue. I'm wondering about rewiring/building the sender unit. The wired connections are either broken or attached with a single strand. I suppose I have some soldering in my future. The thought of electricity running through a full tank has me nervous. What precautions do I need to take so that I dont turn my bike into a bomb if the gas were to get low enough and expose fumes to the circuit?

I took mine apart it is a 1980 gs550 The wire is bare in several spots as well as broken off. What wire did you guys use? I am concerned about the insulation as well as a spark if done wrong
