Need help selecting muffler PLEASE????
what is the best low tone muffler slip on I can get for my 1980 gs550e with stock everything. The cheaper the better.Tags: None

1980 GS 750E Bought new in Feb of 1980
2015 CAN AM RTS
Stuff I've done to my bike:dancing: 1100E front end with new Sonic springs, 1100E swing arm conversion with new Progressive shocks installed, 530 sprockets/chain conversion, new SS brake lines, new brake pads. New SS fasteners through out. Rebuilt carbs, new EBC clutch springs and horn installed. New paint. Motor runs strong.

2016 XL883L sigpic Two-tone blue and white. Almost 42 hp! Status: destroyed, now owned by the insurance company. The hole in my memory starts an hour before the accident and ends 24 hours after.

If you want low-cost but sounds ok, look in an auto graveyard for a car tail box. In bike terms, they're pretty ugly, but give a nice sound. If you're lucky, you'll find an car which was scrapped with a fairly sound system still on it.
One of the best, cheapest, and ugliest XT500s I ever heard/saw used an Escort tailbox as its main baffle box.---- Dave
