wont idle

    wont idle

    put a v&h drag header...went from a 95 main jet to a 120.....runs out good...just wont idle.....

    Have you also upped the pilot jets? Gave it a little more on the big idle adjuster knob??

      what size u think...has a 15....maybe a 17.5?

        Does it stay running if you give it just a tad throttle once its running? like your compensating with the throttle?

          no...if i turn the idle all the way up....with the fuel screws turned 2.5... it will try to idle ...at 2 turns...wont idle at all ...the paper that come with the v&h header..says 1 to 2 turns on fuel,,screws...

            Then I would say the pilot circuit is too lean and would give the 17.5s a go. What position is the clip on the needles at? Can try moving it one slot down also to see if that helps. Move the clips first though before spending jet money.

                2.5 turns out on the fuel screws on a VM carb? Where are the ait screws set?

                I think your carbs are all jacked up.

                  Good catch Tom. I was thinking 2 to 2.5 out on CV carbs...my bad for not catching that in his signature.

                  Like Tom said bottom pilot screws only need to be 7/8 out from gently seated. recheck this first for sure. Side ones about 2 out as a general start point.

                      up the pilot to 17.5 with idle turn all the way up it idles about 1000....screws on fuel turned 2....what can i do to get a little more idle

                        If the big idle knob is all the way in and theres no more to give, then I say your bench sync was way off from the get go. To bench sync them, back the idle knob all the way off the throttle linkage so its not touching. Then set the slide gaps. I go bout the thickness of a THIN paper clip. Idea is to have enough gap to get it to start without a lot of idle knob, but be adjusyed low enough so there is still a lot of idle adjustment left....follow me?

                        Once the bench sync is done, THEN touch off the idle knob and add about 2 turns. idle may be a bit high when she starts but NOW youll have lots of idle knob adjustment left.

                          never done that before....so im a little lost .................think i fixed it.....thanks for the help
