RS36 Carb Sync
Does anybody have a write up on how to sync these carbs. I have a manometer but read a post on another forum about not using one with these carbs and just bench syncing them. ThanksTags: None

familiar name you have..
bench sync and tune.
mixture screw 1/2 turn out max.
if you make the slides different from one another then the bike will not run correctly till the throttle is wide open.
i have no clue how a person would gauge sync these carbs.
i have always done what i posted above with perfect results.

I don't know anything about those carbs, but I would guess that the basic procedure would be pretty much the same.

About 25 years ago I had a GS 1100 come in to have 36 RSs installed. Bench sync was spot on but the bike would NOT idle right, no matter what I tried. Figured it wouldn't hurt to try throwing my 4 gauge Motion Pros on for a try. Sure enough, that fixed the idle & the bike ran awesome! Been doing it that way since with the same results. I didn't have to move them very much but it made all the difference in the world.

Ok, manometer it is. I googled it and came up with a post on a gsxr forum with a couple guys talking about only being able to bench sync them. Something about vacuum leaking past the slides and out the top of the carb. Didn't make a whole lot of sense to me. That's why I asked. Thanks

Eric,
Here's the Mikuni instructions on how to sync the carbs. This should get you 98% of the way there. Apparently the fine tuning is finished with traditional carb syncing somehow, but I'm not entirely clear how that's done yet.
I'm going to try it right now and see if I can sync with the tops off.

Its an 1100e. I bench synced them with some wire as the manual says and reinstalled them. Then put the manometer on and they were all over the place. So I played around some seeing if the tops on or off made a difference and it didn't so I went about syncing them as normal. Seems fine. A lot smoother idle than before and no more pop through the carbs.
