    Pollution setup 1986 GS 450LG , cannister

how does the pollution control device with cannister work and is there a way to bypass without affecting performance

Does the gas cap appear to be tightly sealed? Lots of canister type emission controls were simply to "catch" evaporating fumes from tank fuel and send them to carbs later.

Do you live somewhere that requires emission testing?

      is on the 450

Don't need it here for emission control

is on the bike, just wanted to know how it works as I would like to leave it as close to original as I can

How many hose fittings can you find on tank ? Here's a brief discussion regarding this issue on ninja forum- I imagine your setup would be similar, but I don't know, so dive in !

Here's your layout- note the valve that allows tank to "breathe"

mine looks like the parts picture for the GS 450LG 1986 very similar to the one you have

thanks for the heads up, think I will leave it on so it is as original as long as it cleans up well
