    Jetting a 450 /wo dynojet

    it seems Dynojet doesn't make kits for the 450, even if they do spending $80 on one is a little steep.

    I want to put pods on my bike, and it has raised in elevation by ~2100 feet. so from what i have been looking at without pipes i shouldn't need to go too high on the main jets.

    current verified jets on the bike are 115's i was going to pick up 117.5 to 128 maybe 130 and a needle shim pack. without putting new exhaust on it i think that should cover it or should i start looking at getting new pilot jets as well?

    i want to place the order pretty soon so any help would be greatly appreciated. and yes i am going to get it going good stock before i start with the jetting and pods.

    Yes, make sure to do this part before pod frenzy.
    The "without pipes" stuff means without changing stock exhaust? or....?

      Learn how it works first.
      Elevation doesn't matter.

        Higher elevation means thinner air density. hence if you run the same jets as you would at a lower elevation it creates a rich condition.

        I was going by this.



        now if this link is wrong ok i can believe that. and i have done a fairly good amount of research read most of the articles i can find about how these carbs work and what affects them. but the bottom line is none of it means crap without practical application and experience.

        if you have some information in a link that you think i need to know please share it.

        As far as the exhaust goes its stock baffles i'm about certain. it seems not much was ever done to the bike.

          Except the CV carbs compensate for elevation, and they do it very well if the intake restriction is about right. Sea level jetting works fine at 14,000'.
          Change to pods and you are on your own.
          I have been tuning carbs to run at higher elevations a long time, the CV carbs work great.

              Go up at least two sizes on the mains to 120's if you want it to run well with the pods. That slight change in elevation will not lean them out much.
