The left carbs should be joined through a fitting on the carbs, a built in "T" so to speak. The rights are the same. These 2 lines come up to another T and from there, one line to the tank.
The vacuum line typically comes from carb #2 at the top of the diaphragm cover . The other 3 carbs have vacuum caps on them.
So, you have a single fuel line from the tank that goes to a T for left and right carb pairs, and a single vacuum line from carb 2. I'll make a sketchLast edited by Guest; 07-08-2014, 01:36 PM.

This part puzzles me.

Now, as others have suggested, put a hose on the vacuum port on the petcock. Leave the selector in the RUN position, suck on the vacuum line. Fuel should flow. Stop sucking, fuel should stop.
When you put the tank back on, make sure the vacuum line is connected to the port that is on the engine side of #2 carb and the fuel line is connected to the "T" between carbs 2 and 3. The "T"s betwee 1&2 and 3&4 are VENT lines, they should be run over the airbox. If you have the stock airbox, there will be a small bracket on the back of the right side. Both hoses will fit through there to hold them in relatively still air.

From the petcock there are two ports. The larger diameter one is for fuel and the smaller diameter one is for vacuum. The fuel line connects to the center fuel port between carbs 2 and 3. The vacuum line from the petcock goes to the brass vacuum port nipple on carb number 2 on the engine side.
I tried to post the link to BikeCliff's "Where Do These Hoses Go?" but none of his links are working for some reason.Last edited by JTGS850GL; 07-08-2014, 02:16 PM.http://img633.imageshack.us/img633/811/douMvs.jpg

Those two hoses that you have joining in the middle are VENT hoses and get draped over the back of the airbox.
The vacuum hose that you want is on top of the engine side of #2 carb. Remember: they are numbered from left to right as you are sitting on the bike. #1 is under your clutch hand, #4 is under your throttle hand.
The fuel from the petcock goes to the "T" that is between carbs 2&3.
If you have fuel pouring out, as described above, it's because you are dumping it into the wrong place.

Ok I have the lines the right way if I take the tankb off and fill the carbs with fuel and start the motor it will idle just fine. I can feel a vacuum pulling on the fuel line is that normal? And the vacuum line itself. And I went by the factory spec's about setting my floats. But when I hooked everything back up and turned it to primary to watch the fuel intake I noticed that it did not come out or the float vavle.

Ok so I just looked at bikecliffs page and I think I found my problem the previous owner had the fuel line going to the breather on the top oh the vavle cover. So that is where I thought it went. But now I have another question. Can I just block that off because if it stays open it runs like crap
