    The aluminum pin that holds the oring is too short, there's no way the o ring can seal in that conical bore.

    A fatter o ring may work, or it may not.

      Hi imax,

      you should delete this post, and restart your own thread...then head over to the GS Owners forum, and introduce yourself and your bike.

      I wouldn't expect a lot of replies, as the petcock problem is extremely well documented on the GSR.

      It's easy enough to get the parts back in the wrong position. General consensus is that rebuild kits are not worth the time, money, or energy invested.

        So I should buy the petcock assembly from georgefix for $60? That seems to be the best price. I think partsoutlaw has them too. Maybe I can get the dealer to price match...

          Pull the trigger and stop thinking! Georgie also sells another model that has less reserve for less money- that latter works better for my bike,cuz I found it annoying to have to switch so early to reserve spot. But you'll probably want the $60 unit.

              Your petcock is over 30 years old and it does not work correctly, and it will not work correctly. The only proven path forward is to replace the petcock with a new one that works as designed. Rebuild kits do not work. Hillbilly workarounds do not work.

              Look at it this way: it's a valve that controls the flow of a highly flammable substance a few inches from your gonads.

              Maybe so but by the time you get to 1166 cc it will fuel starve.
              Take that back, stock 1100e/pods/pipe/0.340 cam got starvation in hard pull around 120 mph (closed circuit testing)

                Got my last one from partsoutlaw, $75 including the oring.

                Stuff I've done to my bike:dancing: 1100E front end with new Sonic springs, 1100E swing arm conversion with new Progressive shocks installed, 530 sprockets/chain conversion, new SS brake lines, new brake pads. New SS fasteners through out. Rebuilt carbs, new EBC clutch springs and horn installed. New paint. Motor runs strong.
