Does the 78 GS1000 share airbox with any other models?

Looking to pick up an OEM airbox to put on my Gs1000 as it has K&N pods on it now. There are a few on ebay for ~$100 but there are 850 airboxes for less than half of that. Any help is appreciated!

I assume you need both halves, the connector, plus an air filter

I've got a 79 air box complete with K&N insert, only difference from 78 is chromed sides on the manifold box

But, I'll wait for AZR to get back to you first

Only the 78 +79 GS 1000 and maybe the 79 850 airboxes are the same

I tried looking it up on a cross-reference, but since it is no longer available, it did not show.

However, one thing that I can guarantee is that, unless your 1000 is an '80 or '81 1000G, the 850 airbox will NOT fit.
Looking at the question in the thread title, it is apparent that you have a chain-driven 1000, so don't bother looking at any airboxes for shaft-driven bikes.

lets see a pic of those k&n's. I have a 78 airbox and also have an extra chrome middle box if that is needed.

Well, I have a dynojet Stage 3 kit incoming that Ill try out before swapping. I just know its almost always easier to get carbs running right with the stock airbox, so i assumed I may be better off running stock. Im going to give the Dynojet kit a whirl and see where Im at with that before I decide definitively. The bike is a great ten footer for now. Those pics make it look nicer than it is but overall Im very pleased. Just picked it up last week.

What do you think about my line of thinking? In case we end up trading, do you mind to post up pics of your airbox with the chrome?

I will try to get out and rummage through the bin today and snap a pic...although if you are wanting to make your bike look stock I believe you need the 78 airbox don't you?
